Treasure Coast Theatre presents the Broadway hit, “A Few Good Men”

Treasure Coast Theatre, the only community theatre in Port St Lucie, presents this smash Broadway hit that was later made into an acclaimed film. In his Broadway playwriting debut, Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin offers a biting yet entertaining look into the modern power plays of authority, sexism, politics, law, the military, and morality.

Two young Marines are accused of killing a fellow Marine on their base in Guantanamo Bay. Daniel Kaffee, a Navy lawyer more interested in softball games than the case, is chosen as their defense attorney. He expects a plea bargain and a cover-up of what really happened. However, he is prodded by Joanne Galloway, a female member of the defense team, to dig deeper. With her assistance and that of fellow Navy lawyer Sam Weinberg, Kaffee makes a valiant effort to defend his clients and, in so doing, puts the military mentality and the Marine code of honor on trial.

The play is directed by Rosemary Knight, who has directed a number of plays at Treasure Coast Theatre, including “Doubt: A Parable” “Love, Loss & What I Wore” and “Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike.” Assisting Rosemary Knight is Angela Anderson Knittel, who has served as assistant director on a number of TCT productions and  made her directorial debut with “The Prisoner of Second Avenue.” She will also play a small role as “lawyer.”

The play features a large cast of 14 actors that includes a fair number of newcomers as well as veteran actors familiar to theatregoers on the Treasure Coast – Glen Poole, Danneshia Brown, Dann Alagna, Jason Johnson, Joey Pearson, Joseph Jenecaro, Peabo Powell, Evan Blake, Arthur Sanders,  Robert Muccino, Milo Hassloch, Daniel Gatzlaff, Zach Hoge, and Jonathan Atz.

“A Few Good Men” opens on Friday, November 4th at 8pm. The show runs for three weekends from Friday, November 4th to Sunday, November 20th. Performances are held at 8pm on Friday and Saturday and 2pm on Sunday. Tickets are $25. Please contact the box office for group sales and student pricing.
