Train Hits Car in Vero Beach

Vero Beach, Fl (treasurecoast.com)-The Indian River Sheriff is reporting that a train hit a car Friday night.

This is what they said:

A driver got his vehicle stuck in the gravel while crossing the railroad tracks at Highlands Drive and Old Dixie Highway.

The passing train was unable to stop in time and struck the vehicle. The driver managed to get out in time and was not injured.

IRCSO is investigating the accident with FEC (Florida East Coast) Railway investigators.

The Highlands Drive train crossing was blocked for some time but is now reopened.

Please, obey the safety equipment at railroad grade crossings. They are there to keep you safe.

And never ever try to “beat the train”
