PSLPD: Man arrested on hoax bomb and weapons charges

Police found a man dressed in a ballistics vest with two guns and a rifle in his car, along with a suspicious item that led to the evacuation of several homes in Port St. Lucie.

Original Post – At approximately 4:10pm, PSLPD stopped a vehicle at SE Sandia Dr and SE Crosspoint Dr. Officers located a suspicious item inside the vehicle and contacted the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Disposal Team for assistance. The driver of the vehicle is in police custody at this time.
A perimeter has been established and houses have been evacuated in the immediate area. If you reside within a block radius of SE Sandia Dr and SE Crosspoint Dr, it is recommended you evacuate your residence. There will be a heavy police presence until further notice, please avoid the area.
Update as of 12:45am on August 29th. The SLCSO Bomb Disposal Team rendered the item safe. Evacuated residents can return to their houses at this time. Officers will remain on scene and continue to investigate this incident.
21-year-old, Johann Robey, was taken to the St. Lucie County Jail and charged with possession of a hoax bomb, 3 counts of carrying a concealed weapon, and 2 counts of attempted escape.
Assistant Chief Del Toro provided an update into the investigation at SE Sandia Dr and SE Crosspoint Dr.
