MCSO Animal Services Officers save a pelican and 4 kittens
Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Martin County Sheriff has reported that MCSO Animal Services Officers saved a pelican and 4 kittens!

PELICAN, FOUR KITTENS SAVED WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM SOME DEDICATED FRIENDS
There’s been a lot of saving going on in Martin County, and we have some heroes to thank for it.

who help our MCSO Animal Services Officers save a distressed pelican.
The bird was reported to have fishing line and a bobber wrapped around his body. MCSO Officer Tabitha Queen returned to the area where the pelican was located and made several attempts to catch it, but it was mobile enough to get away at every turn. Then came Rusty, who used his cast net skills to help us catch the pelican, bring it to safety, then remove the fishing line. The only problem, the pelican seem to really like Rusty—and it was hard to say goodbye. Thank you Rusty and Officer Queen for never giving up.
And it was a close call for four kittens today as the baby felines somehow found their way deep in the engine compartment of a citizen’s car. Fortunately, she realized that the purring engine was purring long before she started the car. Animal Services Officer Kim Guile and Officer Shannon McGee worked to free the kittens—and with some expert mechanical help from Deputy Jason Hickman and Lieutenant Joe Collazo, all four kittens were safely pulled from the engine and brought to safety.

In both cases, the animals could have been seriously injured or died, but thanks to those we just mentioned, we had a much happier outcome. Nice work everyone!
