Martin County Sheriff reports fake news of serious crimes that were never commited

Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Martin County Sheriff is reporting that fake news of serious crimes that we never commited are being circulated on Facebook.
This is what they said:
FRAUDULENT SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS CIRCULATING THROUGHOUT MARTIN COUNTY WARNING OTHERS OF SERIOUS CRIMES THAT WERE NEVER COMMITTED
This week Martin County Sheriff’s Office was notified of several fraudulent social media posts circulating through different local Facebook group pages. The majority of the posts have been made on “For Sale” pages targeting Jensen Beach, Stuart and Hobe Sound.
These posts include false information about serious crimes that have not been committed in Martin County. We are aware of the circulating posts and wanted to share some tips with you on how to spot fraudulent posts and to keep yourself safe from these scammers.
1. Remember, Martin County Sheriff’s Office will always notify the community when there is a potential threat to life and public safety.
2. Always check to see who published the post. The names used to post are fictitious.
3. If you are suspicious of a post, please forward it to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office Facebook Page for verification, flag the post as spam and notify the page administrator immediately. The removal of these posts from being shared on social media is imperative to stop the spread of false information, especially those that are intended to incite public fear.
4. Page Administrators should closely monitor or approve every post before allowing it to be posted. If page administrators are suspicious or concerned about a post, forward it to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office for verification.5. When reading through the posts look for the incorrect usage of the English language, grammatical and spelling errors. Most of the pictures that are posted with the posts appear to have been taken from an internet search and in other parts of the Country or World.
