Vero Beach man beats girlfriend then steals her Hummer
Vero Beach, Fl- On June 18, 2018, at 6:54 PM, officers responded to Maryland Fried Chicken, 748 21st Street, in reference to a disturbance. Officers quickly located the victim. It wasa 45 year old female from Vero Beach, whom was bleeding from upper torso injuries. EMS was summoned to the scene.
The victim reported that she had met her ex-boyfriend, Brandon Sean Douglas, age 44, at Cunningham’s Pool and Darts, 736 21st Street. Then, she talked briefly with Douglas, but decided to leave. The victim reported that upon entering her vehicle, Douglas opened her passenger door and began attacking her. According to several witnesses, the victim attempted to flee from Douglas, but was repeatedly battered by him in the parking lot. Douglas was then observed fleeing the area in the victim’s Hummer. A short time later, officers located the Hummer unoccupied on Royal Palm Boulevard east of US 1.
On June 18, 2018, at 8:12 PM, officers arrested Brandon Sean Douglas at the Vero Beach Police Department for Felony Battery with a Prior Conviction and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
While in custody officers learned of an earlier robbery by sudden snatching and grand theft the Douglas was involved in. Based upon this complaint, Douglas was arrested for Robbery by Sudden Snatching and Grand Theft. Douglas was turned over to the Indian River County Jail.
On June 19, 2018, Detectives conducted a follow-up interview with the 45 year old battery victim. Detectives noted the victim had multiple laceration wounds to her face and upper torso. The victim provided a detailed statement regarding Douglas’ attacking her with an edged weapon.
On the afternoon of June 19, 2018, Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Brandon Sean Douglas on the following additional charge:
Attempted First Degree Murder with a Weapon; bond $500,000.00
