Update 3:

PSLPD Detectives continue to make progress in the tragic shooting death of Gabriella Hanley that occurred just 10 days ago.

Through numerous interviews, we have identified three Persons of Interest in this investigation, two adults, and one juvenile.  We are asking anyone who has seen these two individuals with a 2019-2021 Silver Nissan Altima, or know the whereabouts of these two individuals to please call Detective Richard Giaccone (772) 807-4401.  They are not considered suspects and there are currently no criminal charges filed against them.   The Nissan Altima has not been located but it is believed the vehicle was rented between October 4th, 2021 through October 7th, 2021.

Update 2:

Our Detectives continue to investigate this tragic shooting as we seek justice for Gabriella Hanley.  We have made significant progress and the circle around the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence continues to get smaller.

Through interviews we’ve learned the type of vehicle listed below may have been involved in the shooting death of Gabriella.  It is possible this is a rental vehicle.  We encourage any private business or public person who has rented this type of vehicle to please contact Detective Giaccone at the number provided

Obviously, there is information we cannot release at this time as it could negatively impact this investigation.  We encourage anyone who has information regarding this investigation to please come forward.

Update 1:

First and foremost, our thoughts & prayers are with the family who are dealing with a tragic loss today. Our Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators have been working since midnight and continue to work as we speak to identify the individual or individuals responsible for this senseless act of violence.

The victim who died is 20-year-old, Gabriella Hanley (4/24/2001).  We are currently not releasing the name of the adult male.  We can say both individuals have addresses in Martin County.  The 21-year-old adult male was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  He remains hospitalized in stable condition however he is cooperating with Detectives.

Our Crime Scene Investigators are examining and collecting evidence from the Black Kia Forte as we speak

As stated before, we believe this vehicle was targeted.  We do have leads that our Detectives are following up with and we are not at liberty to discuss those at this point.

Original Post: At approximately 11:38pm on October 5th, 2021, Port St Lucie Police responded to SE Green River Parkway after receiving a call about possible gunfire.

Upon arrival to the area Port St Lucie Police Officers saw a black vehicle pulled off the road facing South on SE Green River Pkwy.  The vehicle was located between SE Melaleuca Blvd/SE Charleston DR.

Officers immediately began life saving measures on a 20-year-old female who was laying on the ground next to a 2019 Black Kia Forte.  The female was transported to a local hospital where she tragically succumbed to her injuries.

The 21-year-old adult male was also transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  He is cooperating with PSLPD Detectives.

A preliminary investigation revealed the adult male picked up the adult female at an address in Port St Lucie Lucie and was traveling South on SE Green River Pkwy.  An unknown suspect vehicle fired multiple rounds in the vehicle, striking both occupants, and sadly killing one.

Port St Lucie Police Detectives are working to determine why this vehicle was targeted and what connection there is to our area.  We will be working diligently to hold the individual(s) accountable for this tragic act of violence.  Our thoughts & prayers are with the family who are dealing with their loss today.
