More information this morning about the deadly shooting between a Palm Beach Gardens police officer and a popular local musician.
A hand gun was found outside of Corey Jones’ vehicle and the box the gun was purchased in was located inside the vehicle. Paperwork shows that Jones purchased the gun legally just 3 days before the shooting. The serial number on the gun matches the one on the gun box that was located inside Corey’s vehicle.
The officer had stopped to check what he thought was an abandoned vehicle when an altercation ensued. The Palm Beach Gardens Police Chief is not releasing details about the altercation.
Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office is doing an investigation.
The family of Corey Jones has hired internationally known attorney Benjamin Crump, who represented the families of Trayvon Martin, Tamir Rice, and Michael Brown.
