Suspect in custody after assaulting deputies, ramming vehicles in Martin County
Martin County, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- A man who, in the words of Sheriff William Snyder, tried to “Jesse James” his way out of a parking lot with his car, and nearly running over a deputy, is behind bars in Martin County after a dramatic ordeal.
The incident began when the belligerent armed man threatened to fire his weapons out the window of his Stuart apartment. When police and deputies tired to speak to him- he fled his apartment and took off in his vehicle, ramming multiple sheriff’s vehicles. The subject crashed in a wooded area near 21st Street west of Federal Highway, but still engaged in a standoff. SWAT teams moved in towards the vehicle and were able to secure the suspect without injury to him, deputies or the public.
The MCSO CID Tactical Surveillance Team along with SWAT and Road Patrol Deputies ended the standoff.
