Stuart Police Arrest Two For Using Counterfeit Store Coupons

Stuart, Fla- Stuart police arrest two men for using counterfeit store coupons.

In the early morning hours of Tuesday, January 23, 2018, Officer Bill McGighan was alerted to suspicious activity inside the Walmart Store in Stuart. Officer McGighan witnessed two male subjects purchasing a large quantity of baby formula at the Self Check register.

It was discovered that Dejun Yan, 30 and Xu Zhang, 26, both of Flushing, New York, were passing counterfeit $10.00 off coupons (per can) for Enfamil Powdered Formula. Between both, they passed about 100, $10.00 off coupons for the baby formula at the Stuart location.

Officer McGighan stopped the pair after leaving Walmart with the goods and they were arrested. During the arrest, additional counterfeit coupons were found in their possession. There may be additional cases involving Port Saint Lucie area Walmart Stores. It is unknown how many other stores were victims of this scam.

Yan and Zhang were both arrested for Grand Theft and Uttering False/Counterfeit Instrument. Each were given a $15,000 bond, with “no discount” at the Martin County Jail.
