Special Port St. Lucie City Council meeting to focus on Floresta Drive.

What:                    Special meeting of the Port St. Lucie City Council

When:                   Monday, October 30, 2017 at 7 p.m.

Where:                  City of Port St. Lucie City Hall, Council Chambers

121 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd.

Why:                Port St. Lucie Mayor Gregory J. Oravec has called a special meeting of the Port St. Lucie City Council, where the Council will consider a conceptual improvement plan for Floresta Drive. In calling this meeting, Mayor Oravec stated: “This is a long time coming and should be considered one of our greatest priorities.”

At the meeting, staff will present options for both 4-lane and 2-lane roadway configurations for a “complete street.” A “complete street” maintains safety and provides mobility for cyclists, motorists and pedestrians.

Goals for this project include:

      • Accommodating projected traffic volumes, while minimizing impacts to adjacent properties and neighborhoods;
      • Providing improvements to the corridor that facilitates a safe and efficient flow of traffic and minimizes points of conflict;
      • Strengthening a sense of neighborhood along corridor through implementation of a Complete Street concept;
      • Enhancing pedestrian and bicycle movements and strengthening their connections to the school;
      • Introducing landscaping and lighting schemes that are in harmony with the community.

The public, especially those living along the Floresta Drive corridor, are invited to attend this special City Council meeting. Those who cannot attend can watch it live on Channel 20 on Comcast, Channel 99 on U-Verse, on the City’s website at https://www.cityofpsl.com/communications/live-feed-PSL-TV20.html or LIVE on Facebook at www.facebook.com/cityofpsl/.
