SLCSO INVESTIGATING DOUBLE MURDER, SUICIDE ATTEMPT
According to the Sheriff, at approximately 6:39 p.m., on Sunday, December 23, deputies were called to community in northern St. Lucie County for reports of gunfire and screaming.
“Once on scene, deputies found two individuals deceased from gunshot wounds and a third individual wounded from a self-inflicted gunshot wound,” said Sheriff Ken J. Mascara. “We believe the motive behind the shooting was domestic in nature and all three individuals are related.”
According to the Sheriff, the third victim/suspect was transported to a local hospital. This person is in protected custody with charges pending as the investigation continues.
No other information will be released at this time pending notification of next-of-kin.
“During the holiday season, emotions can sometimes run high and stress can take a toll,” Mascara said.
“Remember that there are resources out there to assist in these situations and that a call to 2-1-1 can be the first step to connect with someone who can help.”
