Reading Groups Continue to Meet at St. Lucie County Libraries 

  1. LUCIE COUNTY – Keep your summer reading list going by taking part in one of the many reading groups offered by St. Lucie County Libraries.

The schedule for August’s events includes:

  • Thursday, Aug. 18 at 10:30 a.m. featuring “The Invisible Life” by V.E. Schwab at the Kilmer Branch’s Thursday Morning Book Discussion Group, 101 Melody Lane, Fort Pierce – 772-462-1615.
  • Friday, Aug. 19 from 1 to 3:30 p.m., featuring “The Martian” at the Kilmer Library’s Page to Screen Movie & Discussion, 101 Melody Lane, Fort Pierce – 772-462-1615. Based on the summer reading challenge book by Andy Weir, patrons can check out the book and come back in for a special “summer reading” to watch the 2015 film starring Matt Damon. The movie is rated PG-13 with a running time of 141 minutes.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 6 p.m. featuring “The Last Detective” by Robert Crais at the Morningside Branch’s Mystery Lovers Book Discussion Group, 2410 Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie – 772-337-5632.

These drop-in programs are open to all adults and offered at no charge. A limited number of copies of the monthly selection are available for check out at the branch.

For those book lovers who crave social interactions, but aren’t comfortable or able to meet in person, there is a Virtual Book Group on:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 31 at 2 and 7 p.m., featuring “Under the Banner of Heaven” by Jon Krakauer. Check out your digital copy of the book on our website – unlimited copies will be available and pre-register using our online form atwww.stlucielibrary.org.
