PSLPD Officer Passes Away After Battle with Cancer

It is with great sadness that the Port St. Lucie Police Department announces the passing of Officer Kenneth Frid. Officer Frid passed away last night, surrounded by his family and friends, under Hospice care following a battle with cancer. Officer Frid was a loving husband to his wife, Meryl, and a devoted father to his daughters, Madison, and Abigail.

Officer Frid was born on March 17, 1969, in Southampton, Ontario. He began his law enforcement career with PSLPD in June 2005 and proudly served the citizens of our community for the past 17 years. During his career, Officer Frid held various assignments, including Patrol Officer, Uniform Crime Scene Investigator, Criminal Investigations Division Detective, Peer Support Officer, and Parks Officer. Officer Frid was a decorated Officer and received numerous awards during his career, including 1 Civic Award, 9 Unit Citations, and a Distinguished Achievement Award for the Safest City from 2011 through 2021.

Mayor Shannon Martin stated, “Officer Frid’s passing is a tremendous loss for our community. Ken was a close personal friend who was larger than life, and he will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Chief John Bolduc stated, “Ken was dedicated to his craft, a devoted husband, father, and friend who enjoyed camping and canoeing with his friends and family. All who knew him, will miss his calm demeanor, sense of caring, and welcoming smile. We thank Ken for proudly serving the citizens of Port St. Lucie for the past 17 years. Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

Memorial service information will be released as it becomes available.
