PSLPD  investigating fatal crash; car vs. bicycle, SW Rosser Blvd

Port St Lucie, Fl- On April 25, 2018 at 2:30 pm, Port St. Lucie Police went to 3700 block of SW Rosser Boulevard for reports of a crash between a car and a bicycle.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2013 grey Honda, driven by 22 year old Alec Erichsen of Port St. Lucie, was traveling north SW Rosser Boulevard.  As Erichsen was traveling north, he went into the southbound lane and passed the car in front of him.  After returning back into the northbound lane, Erichsen struck a bicyclist who was also traveling north on SW Rosser Boulevard.  The impact ejected the bicyclist from the bicycle and caused him to strike the front windshield of Erichsen’s car.

An off-duty St. Lucie County Firefighter, Dominick Mattino, came to the aid of the bicyclist by performing CPR until St. Lucie County Fire/Rescue arrived on scene.  The bicyclist, later identified as 45 year old Karriem Davey of Port St. Lucie, was transported by ground to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead by the hospital staff.

Port St. Lucie Police Traffic Homicide Investigators are continuing their investigation into this crash.
