PSL woman arrested, accused of serving alcohol to three teens before deadly 2020 crash
Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – On August 1, 2020, a tragic accident claimed the lives of 3 local juveniles in our community. On August 5, 2020, our Criminal Investigations Division was asked to assist in our Traffic Homicide Investigation. Early in the investigation, due to the circumstances the State Attorney’s Office was consulted and became participatory.
An extensive investigation was conducted where 15 people were interviewed, a total of 20 interviews took place, and 5 search warrants were conducted. Detectives learned that Beth Turban was aware and provided alcohol to juveniles at her residence. Detectives learned through interviews that three juveniles left the residence to purchase ping pong balls for beer pong.
Through surveillance cameras and cell phone records the juveniles departed the Turban residence at approximately 10:00pm and drove through the Wal-Mart parking lot in St. Lucie West at approximately 10:25pm. Port St Lucie Police Officers responded to an area on SW California Blvd in reference to an accident at approximately 10:30pm. Two juveniles were deceased on scene and the other juvenile passed away a few days later.
After a thorough investigation and consulting with the State Attorney’s Office, warrants for the arrest of Beth Turban were applied for and obtained.
On September 19, 2021, Beth Turban was arrested and booked into the St. Lucie County Jail on (3) Counts of allowing an open house party-contributing to serious bodily injury or death.
It is our hope that adults reading this who consider giving juveniles alcohol, think twice. Not only is it illegal, but your actions could also have unintended tragic consequences.
