PSL Solid waste update as of Friday, March 18, 2022

PORT ST. LUCIE – Port St. Lucie staff continues to pick up residential yard debris to alleviate delays in collection. Approximately 45% of the initial sweep is complete, which began Feb. 28, which leaves the initial homes picked up three weeks without service again.
Residents can track the yard waste collection efforts by visiting the City’s interactive map.
A temporary solution for yard waste will be discussed at the March 21’s Special City Council Meeting at 9:30 a.m. The public is invited to watch online at www.CityofPSL.com/TV, on the City’s Facebook page, @CityofPSL, and on City’s PSLTV channel. Council also will discuss the Solid Waste Task Force’s short- and long-term recommendations on vegetative debris collection.
Today, Waste Pro is 20 routes behind in the collection of recycling. The City is aware of the situation and asks residents to leave their recycling cart at the curb until it is picked up.

There are ways residents can help:

  • Place all yard debris, neatly stacked, containerized and bagged, when possible, for pickup. Also, consider postponing high volume-generating yard debris projects.
  • Use the City’s free, voluntary drop-off Convenience Center for yard and bulky waste, which is available from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week for City residents. It is located at Cameo Boulevard & Crosstown Parkway.
  • When driving, be mindful of our City employees picking up yard waste. To protect roadside workers, please slow down, move over and give workers the space to work safely.
Since January, staff has collected 10,272 cubic yards of yard waste. In addition to City staff, personnel from St. Lucie West Services District are collecting yard debris inside HOAs within the St. Lucie West area.
To report long-term service disruption, use the 1PSL web portal , submit your concern via the 1PSL mobile app or call 772-871-1775.
