Port St. Lucie police identify woman killed in targeted shooting

Port St Lucie, Fl  (TreasureCoast.com) – The Port St Lucie Police identified the woman in the fatal shooting in Port St Lucie. They have identified the victim as 45 year old, Karesha Brissett.
The Port St. Lucie Police Department said they worked throughout the evening and night to process the scene. Evidence at this point would suggest this incident was a targeted crime and not a random act of violence. PSLPD will have an increased presence in the area and we are not currently looking for a suspect in the immediate community.

At approximately 4:10am yesterday morning, PSLPD received two calls of reported gun fire in the area of SW Stockton Pl. An exact location was not reported and Officers canvassed the area but were met with negative results for any victims or evidence of shooting activity. Detectives are still investigating if these calls are related to the scene later discovered at 11:39am.
At approximately 11:39am, PSLPD received two calls regarding a welfare check in the 11200 BLK of SW Stockton Pl. A friend of the victim went to the residence because she did not show up to work and discovered the shattered rear slider and shell casings on the back patio. The reporting party flagged down a delivery service driver who was in the area and provided assistance.
The victim is an adult female and the next of kin has not been notified at this time. A total of 13 spent shell casings were located on the rear back patio and it appears the victim was shot through the slider and entry was not made into the residence.
A gas container and glass bottles with liquids and rags have been safely removed from the scene. The motive and intention of the crime is still under investigation.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today. PSLPD is still on scene in the 11200 BLK of SW Stockton Pl processing the scene and will continue to work diligently to solve this case. There will be no further information provided at this time.
