Port St. Lucie Police arrest 11 year old boy on animal cruelty charge.

Port St Lucie, Fl-On October 4, 2018, Port St. Lucie Police Detectives arrested an 11 year old boy on the charge of Animal Cruelty, after a video surfaced showing the boy grabbing and throwing the family cat.

The incident occurred on October 2, 2018 at around 5:30pm. A neighbor of the 11 year old boy observed the suspect outside throwing the cat in the air and letting it land on the ground. The neighbor told his mother who instructed him to video the activity of the suspect. During the videoing of the incident, the suspect is seen several times grabbing the cat. Then throwing it in the air, and letting it land on the ground. At times the cat would hit the ground. Then it would attempt to run away only to have the suspect chase  it down and throw it again.

On October 4, 2018, Port St. Lucie Police Detectives identified the suspect and interviewed him regarding the abuse of the cat. The detectives learned that the suspect was angry with the cat due to the cat leaving feces in the suspect’s bedroom.

Detectives went to the suspect’s home and secured two cats and a bird. The cats were taken to a local Veterinarian for evaluation. The abused male cat named Ray, sustained soft tissue injury to the tail and the other cat was in good health.

The 11 year old suspect was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
