St. Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – A pedestrian was struck and killed after being run over multiple times on the Florida Turnpike.

According to FHP:

Vehicle 1  was driven by a 20 yo female from Deerfield with a 22 yo passenger. Vehicle 2 was a truck tractor. The Pedestrian that was killed was a 57 year old male from Miami Beach.

Vehicle-1 was traveling on SR-91(Florida’s Turnpike) southbound in the right lane. Vehicle-2(Tow-Truck) was parked on the right paved shoulder southbound on SR-91. Pedestrian-1(Driver of Vehicle-2) was adjacent to Vehicle-2`s driver side door which was open, in the southbound lane. The front of Vehicle-1 collided with the open driver side door of Vehicle-2 and with Pedestrian-1 within the right lane.

After impact, Vehicle-1 came to a controlled stop on the right paved shoulder and Pedestrian-1 came to final rest in the southbound lanes. Vehicle-2 remained parked on the right paved shoulder.

Pedestrian-1 was struck by three other vehicles while laying on the southbound lanes after the initial strike from Vehicle-1. All three vehicles that struck Pedestrian-1 continued traveling southbound on SR-91 without stopping. Pedestrian-1 succumbed to the injuries caused by the crash and was pronounced deceased on scene.

Out of the three vehicles that struck Pedestrian FHP is looking for a possible SUV maroon in color, unknown make or model and a Mazda, unknown make or model.

 This case is pending investigation. 

The Turnpike is now open.
