PBC and Martin Sheriff’s offices team up to catch car thieves in Stuart

Martin County, Fla- Three suspected car burglars were arrested Saturday afternoon following a crash that stemmed from a car chase. The Martin County and Palm Beach Sheriff’s Offices teamed up to make the arrests. Everything began in Palm Beach County as deputies followed a vehicle believed to be connected to several other car robberies in neighboring counties. The vehicle was occupied by two males and one female.

Martin County deputies followed the vehicle in unmarked cars once the suspects crossed county lines. The suspects tried to break into several cars in Palm City before heading to Kiwanis Youth Park by downtown Stuart. Detectives then surrounded the vehicle to arrest the suspects, but they drove through the blockade. An officer fired at the vehicle when the car drove through the barricade, but didn’t hit anyone. The suspects soon crashed the car and fled on foot. All three were arrested within an hour.
