PALM BAY OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING INVESTIGATION

At approximately 11:15 A.M., a shooting incident was reported at the intersection of St. Johns Heritage Parkway and Emerson Road, Palm Bay, involving off-duty Deputy Yousef Hafza.

Deputy Hafza is currently assigned to West Precinct Patrol and has been employed with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office since November of 2015. Deputy Hafza is an eleven year law enforcement veteran, having been previously employed by the Palm Bay Police Department, Orange County Sheriff’s Office and the West Melbourne Police Department.

The incident is being investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The incident is alleged to be road-rage related. As a result of the incident, an individual identified as 22-year-old Clarence Mahogany X Howard of Palm Bay was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Deputy Hafza was unharmed, and has been placed on paid Administrative Leave pending the outcome of the investigation. An action that is routine in cases of this nature.
