Multiple deaths in accident on 25th Street and Midway Road

Five people died and at least two more were injured in a crash near Fort Pierce late Friday night. The crash left one of the vehicles in flames with the occupants still inside.
The crash was reported about 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of South 25th Street and West Midway Road, south of Fort Pierce.
Three vehicles were involved.
One of the vehicles caught fire after the crash with multiple people inside. The car was fully engulfed in flames when fire crews arrived. The fire had to be extinguished before the occupants could be extracted.
At least two others were injured in the crash.
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
Highway patrol officials said they would send out a news release later Saturday.
