Man riding two-wheel electric skateboard killed in hit-&-run on Hutchinson Island

St Lucie County, Fl (treasurecoast.com) – A man riding a two-wheel electric skateboard killed in a hit-&-run on Hutchinson Island.  The crash that took place on Friday, February 25, 2022. The suspect vehicle fled the scene and there is no information available on the vehicle or its driver at this time.

The accident took place at 9 p.m at North State Road A1A and Breakers Landing.

The deceased was 40 year-old-male from Fairfax, Virginia.

Here is the information from FHP:

Pedestrian-1 was riding on a two-wheel electric skateboard, southbound on North State Road A1A, south of Breakers Landing. Vehicle-1 was southbound on North State Road A1A, south of Breakers Landing approaching Pedestrian-1. The driver of Vehicle-1 failed to observe Pedestrian-1 causing the front of Vehicle-1 to collide with the back of Pedestrian-1. The skateboard came to final rest off the west roadway in the grass. After impact, Pedestrian-1 came to final rest laying prone in the southbound travel lane of North State Road A1A, succumbing to the injuries caused by the crash; Pedestrian-1 was pronounced deceased on scene. After colliding with Pedestrian-1, Vehicle-1 continued traveling southbound on North State Road A1A without stopping.

This case is pending investigation.
