A man is under arrest and charged with the murder of a young mother in Okeechobee.
21-year old Christopher Shows is facing multiple charges, including first-degree murder, desecration of a body, and tampering with evidence.
Investigators say Shows shot and killed 25-year-old Amanda Suarez on Dec. 7.
Police found her lying in a pool of blood in her kitchen.
Detectives say Shows went to her home. Shows made sexual advances toward Suarez, which she refused. Police said Shows went back outside and grabbed a .22 rifle from his truck, chased Suarez through her house and shot her as she tried to run out the back door.
Police say he dragged her to the kitchen, placed her body in the form of a crucifix and had sex with her body.
Investigators are not sure whether she was alive during the sex acts.
Investigators said Shows tried to cover his crime by disposing of her phone and burning his clothes.
Suarez had four children. Her family set up a GoFundMe page to help with expenses.
