Stuart, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- The Stuart Police have arrested a man after he committed a  fraudulent act with a person’s debit card at WaWa gas station in Stuart.

This is what happened:

On Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 5:51pm, we responded to the WaWa located at 983 SE Federal Hwy and met with a victim who was reporting fraudulent activity occurring on her bank account.
The victim had noticed multiple fraudulent charges were made on her bank account that occurred at the WaWa gas station that she did not authorize.

The victim began to track down the suspect making the fraudulent transactions. The victim learned the suspect that made the fraudulent transactions was a male and drove a white work truck.

Determined to find the suspect, the victim went to the WaWa gas station in Stuart at the same time the fraudulent transactions occurred on April 13, 2022, in hopes the suspect would be a creature of habit and would be pumping fuel again. When the victim arrived, she discovered the male and white work truck were currently at the Wawa and pumping gas from pumps #9 and #10.

While the victim was watching the suspect, she observed the suspect throw credit cards into the trash can near the gas pump after he used the cards. While watching the suspect, the victim received fraudulent alerts from her bank which matched the time and location where she was. The amount was also identical to the fraudulent charge made the day before April 13, 2022, at the same gas station. Armed with this information, the victim called 9-1-1.

When Sgt. Reddick arrived, he met with the suspect at pump #9. The suspect was identified as Rosniel Jimenez Gonzalez from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Detectives responded to the gas station and observed multiple steel tanks in the back of the truck along with other tanks hidden in the bed of the truck. The tanks laid flat on the bed of the truck and had a carpet placed over the top to conceal the tanks. Detectives observed wood pallets, tire, and a construction cone laid on top of the tanks to try and conceal the tanks. Detectives also located 28 fraudulent credit/debit cards still in the truck driven by Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with trafficking in or possessing counterfeit credit cards, unlawful conveyance of fuel, obtaining fuel by fraud, fraudulent use of credit card more than two times within six months, and unlawful possession of personal ID of five or more persons.
