Indian River County Expands Eligibility to New Resident Groups to Receive the COVID-19 Vaccine

Vero Beach, FL(treasurecoast.com) – This week, Governor Ron DeSantis issuedExecutive Order 21-62 (Amending Executive Order 20-315 – Vaccine Administration/Protecting Florida’s Seniors), which takes effect on Monday, March 15, 2021. Per the Executive Order, Indian River County will expand its COVID-19 vaccination to include the following:

  • Long-term care facility residents and staff;
  • Persons 60 years of age and older;
  • Persons under 65 deemed medically vulnerable by a physician (form required);
  • Health care personnel with direct patient contact;
  • K-12 school employees 50 years of age and older;
  • Sworn law enforcement officers 50 years of age and older; and
  • Firefighters 50 years of age and older

Beginning, Thursday, March 11, Indian River County residents who are now eligible to receive the vaccine under the new Executive Order can register with the County’s waitlist. Please note that if you previously made an account through the Indian River County Everbridge Waitlist System and are now eligible under the Governor’s new Executive Order, you will need to login to your Everbridge account and update your information to meet the new criteria so that you will be offered an appointment. A valid ID is required to verify age and/or employment upon arrival for vaccine appointment.

If you are a person under 60 and are deemed extremely vulnerable to COVID-19 for the purposes of receiving a vaccine, your physician will need to fill out a form from the Florida Department of Health certifying that you are deemed medically vulnerable. The form MUST be signed by a physician and filled out prior to your scheduled vaccine appointment with the County.You will also need to bring the original copy of the completed and signed form with you to your scheduled appointment.

To sign up for the County waitlist, eligible residents should complete the online registration form atwww.tinyurl.com/IRCvaccine. Residents who need technical assistance with online registration or do not have Internet access can also register by calling our call center (772) 226-4000, which is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – noon and 1 pm – 5:00 pm.
