Harrouff to have trial by Jury

The college student accused in the face-biting attack and killings of a couple near Tequesta pleaded not guilty to the murders.

Austin Harrouff entered the plea through his attorney Tuesday. He’s asking for a trial by jury.

Harrouff is accused of killing John Stevens and Michelle Mishcon at their home last August. He was booked in October after spending weeks in the hospital. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office said the first deputy on scene found Harrouff biting pieces of flesh from the face of Stevens.

New documents released this week show Harrouff told a paramedic he took drugs, but didn’t say which ones. The FBI has completed blood tests on Harrouff, but the results have not been released. Just last week, a grand jury indicted Harrouff on two counts of first degree murder and attempted murder for the attack on a neighbor who tried to stop the killings.
