FPUA Addresses Emergency Transmission Water Main Break

Fort Pierce, FL-January 26, 2022 – Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) is experiencing an emergency system-wide outage of the water utility due to a transmission water main break. The water main break occurred around 5 PM on January 25th at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and 13th Street.

Due to the age of the infrastructure, the system was not able to be isolated requiring immediate action to minimize the impact to our community. Due to the large water volume, the water plant was isolated from the entire system to allow crews to safely begin repairs.

FPUA crews are currently working to restore the system as quickly as possible. The repairs are expected to be completed this morning.  FPUA will issue additional information once the system has been restored with a 72-hour precautionary boil water notice.
