FPPD searching for armed robber suspect who shot gas station clerk

Fort Pierce, Fl- Fort Pierce PD are working to identify the person who shot a gas station clerk and robbed the store at gunpoint.

The BP gas station is located right along US1 across the street from the police department.  Coworkers and family of the victim say the store clerk was standing outside around 9:30 Monday night, taking a smoke break. They say a masked man walked up to him. Then he fired a gun shot in the air and then shot the clerk in the leg.

Surveillance video shows the shooter struggle to open the cash register. Then, you see him leave the store and come back inside while dragging the clerk to get him to help opening the register. The clerk’s sister said his injury was not life-threatening, but, he suffered multiple surgeries. 

The clerk could be out of work for weeks recovering, and has a family to support.
