Fellsmere Police: Marty Ray Crawford Jr. death investigation concluded

Fellsmere, Fl (treasurecoast.com)  – The Fellsmere Police have concluded the death investigation of Marty Ray Crawford Jr.

According to the Fellsmere Police:

“On October 9th at approximately 4:00 pm, officers of the Fellsmere Police Department were dispatched to a vacant residential lot in the vicinity of N. Willow Street and Lincoln Street to investigate the report of a dead body at that location. The body was located in a small wooded area on the south end of the lot and was discovered by the property owner.

The body was ultimately identified as that of Marty Ray Crawford Jr. age 34., a transient resident of Fellsmere. In addition to several personal belongings found with his body on that date was a small, clear plastic baggie consistent with those used to package and sell illicit drugs. The baggie was located under Crawford’s remains. The presence of this baggie was not revealed in previous press releases to avoid public speculation until it could be properly analyzed by the Regional Crime Laboratory in Ft. Pierce.

The results of that analysis were received by FPD on February 10, 2022. The analysis determined that the baggie contained .08g (or 80mg) of Fentanyl. A typical lethal dose of Fentanyl is only 2mg.

Interviews conducted with close friends and family members, coupled with the absence of any foul play led investigators to suspect early on that Crawford’s death was likely the result of acute intoxication (Fentanyl). Those suspicions were shared with family members and were confirmed after receiving the Medical Examiners report and the lab analysis of the plastic baggie.”

“The members of Crawford’s family who investigators shared the lab analysis with wish to thank the community for their support and convey the closure they now have in this case. To aid in that closure, they hope that everyone who knew him or came to know him as a result of this investigation will remember Marty for the good person he was.” The Fellsmere Police said.
