Fake UPS man arrested at post office in Ft Pierce

St Lucie County, Fla- Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Fort Pierce main post office on Midway Road yesterday for a report of a suspicious person attempting to purchase high value money orders using a credit card. The male was dressed in a brown UPS uniform.

When the deputies arrived, the man, later identified as 26-year-old Daniel Cherilus, was seen trying to leave the property.

Deputies attempted to stop him and Cherilus actively resisted their instructions causing a brief altercation. Cherilus was arrested and charged with resisting an officer with violence and simple assault on an officer.

Once under arrest, deputies found in his pockets, credit cards not in his name. It was also confirmed that he was not a UPS employee.

This case has been turned over to the U.S. Postal Inspector for further investigation.
