City of Port St. Lucie Advisory on Hurricane Irma # 9                  

 Port St. Lucie is committed to ensuring the safety of citizens, and we’re asking residents to prepare with us.  The City’s emergency operations team continues to prepare for Hurricane Irma landfall and impact.  The City continues to work closely with St. Lucie County officials and community partners and will provide status updates as necessary.

As of 5pm Friday, the City of Port St. Lucie has these important updates:

• The City has added an interactive evacuation zone by address map to the website.  Please visit www.CityofPSL.com/irma and click on Hurricane Irma Interactive Map button for more information.
• The PSL Community Center, Robert E. Minsky Gymnasium, and the Saints Golf Course are closed until further notice.
  • All programs, classes, events and rentals held at each facility are canceled.
• All City of Port St. Lucie parks are also closed until further notice.
• Parks & Recreation closure update; the following events/programs are cancelled:

• Please be aware that Utility Systems will not be dispatching field crews when wind speeds have exceeded 39 miles per hour. Customers are asked to be patient until City staff can safely return to the field.
• There will be no garbage pickup of any kind on Saturday, September 9.
  • The landfill is closed Saturday, September 9 through Monday, September 11 and is expected to re-open on Tuesday, September 12 weather and circumstances permitting.  Garbage pickup will resume when the landfill opens.

• Reminder: The Special Port St. Lucie City Council meeting – the budget hearing – that was scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, is CANCELED. This meeting is tentatively rescheduled to Monday, Sept. 25, 2017. The Regular City Council meeting scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 11, 2017 will still be held.

• If residents have specific hurricane-related questions regarding Port St. Lucie, they can call 772-871-5225. The City’s information hotline, 772-873-6397 also is activated. The city has set up a webpage at www.cityofpsl.com/irma where information for residents will be updated frequently. The City’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/cityofpsl/ and the City’s Twitter page, https://twitter.com/CityPortStLucie also will have up-to-the-minute information.
