Carl Hiaasen is better than prozac.

As a person who spends most of their time either seeing patients or sitting in front of a computer this was a very awesome evening for me. To hear one of my favorite authors speak was a joyous highlight after 2 very serious days.

Hysterically, looking at my multiple bookcases you would not know this. All but two book are gone including my signed “Striptease.” This is because I give books away to people.  I think I have bought at least 10 “Tourist Seasons.”

If you have my signed “Striptease” please return it. Also if you have my Drumming book with the chapter on the soul vampires return that one also. I really really  need it and I can’t find one in print.

My favorite will always be “Tourist Season.” and     “Strip Tease.”

“Strip Tease’  is the about sugar growers in Florida.  I read it and laughed. If i ever get it back i’ll read it from a different set of eyes. Eyes that have lived in Martin County for the last 8 years. In fact, it should probably be required River Warrior reading. At least we’ll laugh while we cry.

He also wrote a book called “Hoot.” (and many other books for teens.) I can’t wait to read it to my grandson. It was adapted  as a film. The movie was written and directed by Wil Shriner. Jimmy Buffett provided songs for the soundtrack, and appeared in the role of Mr. Ryan, a middle-school teacher. Kin Shriner (Wil’s brother) (Scotty Balwin, GH) also appears. The soundtrack is outstanding.

If’s these kids can save the owls we adults can save our river!

Let me know which book is your favorite.
