Body of missing man found in pond.
A search by friends and neighbors for a missing man has ended with a tragic discovery. A body was found in a retention pond at Portofino Shores in Lakewood Park.
John Michael Kim was last seen in Portofino Shores around 1am on Monday morning.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Kim had been at Filthy’s Fine Cocktails & Beer in Vero Beach on Sunday.
“After some type of argument, a cab was called for him at approximately (12:30 a.m.),” the Sheriff’s Office stated.
St. Lucie County Sheriff Ken Mascara said Kim had been dropped off by a cab at the entrance to Portofino Shores, where Kim lives. Kim had just spent time at a bar in Vero Beach.

When Kim failed to make it to his home, friends and family started looking for him.
The effort resumed after daybreak, and it was volunteers who noticed the body in the retention pond by the community’s entrance.
Both the St. Lucie Sheriff’s Office and Vero Beach Police are investigating.
