BODY FOUND IN SAVANNAS STATE PRESERVE

Just after 3:00 pm, park rangers at Savannas State Preserve in Jensen Beach, located the body of a man embedded in some palmetto bushes. The park rangers were continuing periodic search efforts for 61-year old James Young of Port St. Lucie. This effort follows a two day search for the missing senior citizen.

Although a body has been recovered, a positive identification has NOT been made, and will not be made until the medical examiner completes an autopsy. The scene at the state park has been cleared at this time.

No further information will be available until a positive identification of the deceased is made.

Update June 6th:

Preliminary inspection of the body did not suggest foul play was involved in his death.  The body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office.  Port St. Lucie Police Crime Scene Investigators worked in conjunction with the Martin County’s Sheriff’s Office and positively identified the deceased man as missing person James Michael Young.

The investigation into the death of Mr. Young continues.
