Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested! Police thank Social Media!

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- 56-Year-Old, Walter Montgomery was apprehended and taken into custody in Fort Pierce.

Here is what happened and kudos to our social media community:
Earlier today we asked for your assistance in identifying the suspect responsible for last night’s armed robbery at the Mobil Gas Station. Well….Thanks to YOU, our social media community, we received several tips which led law enforcement right to 56-Year-Old, Walter Montgomery. He was subsequently taken into custody in the 2500-BLK of US1 by the Fort Pierce Police Department.
PSLPD Criminal Investigations Division Detectives identified Montgomery as the suspect responsible for two incidents that occurred last night. At 9pm yesterday, he approached a mother and her two young children as they exited the CVS in the 9800-BLK of US1. He proceeded to jab the mother with his hand and threatened to shoot her. Montgomery then snatched her purse and fled the area. Just an hour later at 10pm, he entered the Mobil Gas Station in the 1000-BLK of PSL Blvd and held the clerk at knifepoint, stealing $1400 from the cash register. Thankfully, none of the victims were injured in either incident.
Montgomery is now at the St. Lucie County Jail. PSLPD Detectives have charged him with 2 counts of robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, petit theft, and grand theft.
Great job to all involved in the quick apprehension of this suspect!
