Inshore:

The rainy season has certainly been a wet one so far. Lots of rainy days have made it a challenge some days to dodge storms and enjoy the fishing! Watch the weather and plan carefully when you are outside. Storms can pop up quickly and keeping track of what’s going on around you can keep you from a soggy experience. It’s gonna be another hot summer!

The fishing has been decent most days for us. Snapper are plentiful and good sized for the river. We have been catching plenty of keepers up to 14″ lately. Lots of lane and mangrove snapper along channel edges this time of year and we have been catching a good number of slot black drum as well. Shrimp is usually the best bait for a good snapper bite. Docks have held keeper mangroves and the occasional redfish. DOA shrimp is always the best choice when looking for redfish around docks and mangroves. Snook fishing around bridges and docks has been good on the high ends of the tides along with jacks attacking everything around. Watch the water temperatures. Out of the channel it has been in the high 80’s. Look for water a few degrees cooler than the norm and there should be fish nearby.

I had Brad and Connor out with me this week. They caught and released a good variety of fish. Black drum, sheepshead, snapper and jacks were keeping the guys busy. Most were legal size and will be out there for another days fishing. Another fun time on the water! Watch the weather, keep hydrated and use plenty of sunscreen!

Remember, as always, fishing is not just another hobby……it’s an ADVENTURE!

Good Fishing,
Captain Charlie Conner
