Beware of Bufo Toads!
Poisonous toads, called Bufo toads, can be found throughout Martin and St Lucie Counties, as well as Palm Beach County, and are a deadly threat to pets.
Common signs to watch for:
- Severe, immediate drooling – within seconds
- Brick red mucous membranes
- Hyperthermia
- Vomiting yellow fluid – within minutes
- Pasty diarrhea – within minutes
Neurological signs – dilated pupils, ataxia, vocalization, seizures, collapse, death
