Working with Chakras

Working with Chakras (an introduction)

Today I was sitting and preparing for my week with my patients I decided to write something I could bring along as guidance for the folks who have expressed interest in taking responsibility in their healthcare in an alternative manner.  I also felt it would be a good review for myself. I’ve been feeling off since the Hurricane. For weeks I have been devouring carbs. Pre hurricane I was doing protein, fruits an veggies. I feel great in my head but just feeling off.

I don’t like to be off. Everyday I wake up to a new day and put the past behind me. I set my intention which is basically to be the best person I can be and do only good. I take personal responsibility for my attitude. I’m not here to tell anyone what to do (I do not like when people tell me I must do something.) I personally have issues with most medication. Most makes me sick so I try to what I can to avoid them.

This information is not intended to replace any kind of medical information that you get from your medical provider.

It’s to augment what your doing (and what I’m doing) so you may some peace in your life.

In the last 8 years I went on my own spiritual journey. I went to some classes. I have trouble buying into any one philosophy. So I created my own. That is what you could do. Find things that resonate with you.

About Me

I decided that as a nurse there were many skills I could acquire to help my patients and during this journey I discovered that if I did the work I could help myself. I took many courses to be certified in multiple areas.  The first certification was in spiritual counseling. The second was in Meditation. The third was in Stress Management. This took me a few years.

Then I discovered Reiki and did the work to become a Reiki Master. I love reiki. I have a little routine I do with meditation and oils which heaven. Reiki is accepted all over the world. Many hospitals have Reiki practitioners. Most Hospices make their nurses get certified in at least level one. Reiki relaxes people. Stress kills people. So anytime your relaxed your body is in a good place. A happy place. I like to be in that happy place.

I’m going to try to keep things simple and not be bogged down. Take you want. My intention is to take our time working thru each Chakra starting from the bottom and working our way. I hope to engage some other practitioners from the area. Then you can see what resonates with you and what you want to try.

I did order a few books to see what their suggestions are.

So here it goes!

What is a Chakra

All religions talk about some kind of energy field. This work is not religious but taking simple steps to ground yourself and bring yourself towards your authentic self. You may feel grounded or you may feel totally out of sorts. One step at time. One breath at a time.

The word Chakra (चक्र) derives from the Sanskrit word meaning “wheel,” as well as “circle” and “cycle”

The seven chakras are the centers in our bodies in which energy flows through.

Blocked energy in our seven chakras can often lead to illness, so it’s important to understand what each chakra represents and what we can do to keep this energy flowing freely.

The Chakras

The Root Chakra represents our foundation and feeling of being grounded. It is located at the base of spine in the tailbone area. It deals with survival issues like financial independence, food, shelter, safety.

The second Chakra is the Sacral Chakra. It has to do with our connection and ability to accept others and new experiences. The location is the lower abdomen, about two inches below the navel and two inches in. Issues are sense of abundance, well being and pleasure.

The Heart Chakra has to do with our ability to love. It is located in the center of our chest just above the heart. Issues are love, joy and inner peace.

The Throat Chakra has to do with our ability to communicate. It is located in the throat. Issues are communication, self expression, feelings and the truth.

  • The Third Eye Chakra is our ability to focus on and see the big picture. The location is on the forehead between the eyes.
  • imagination, wisdom and the ability to think and make decisions.
  • The Crown Chakra is the highest chakra. It represents our ability to be fully connected spiritually. The location is very top of the head Issues include our connection to spirituality and pure bliss.
  • My intention is to start in a general manner and to see where it goes. Everyone is invited to chime in and let the others know what they are working on. I’ll be working right along with you.
  • That’s it for lesson one. In lesson two we’ll be talking about the Root Chakra.
