Woman from Stuart killed in hit-and-run, two drivers sought

Stuart, Fl (treasurecoast, Fl)-  A Stuart woman crossing the street Friday evening was struck and killed by two vehicles that fled the scene, according to Florida Highway Patrol officials, who are seeking help to identify the suspected hit-and-run drivers.

The 49-year-old woman, whom law enforcement did not identify, was struck around 7 p.m. as she was walking west to east at Southeast Dixie Highway and Southwest Delmar Street.

A two-toned pickup truck, light on top and dark on the bottom, struck the woman when she was in the northbound lanes of Dixie Highway, FHP reported. Troopers said the truck has damage on the right side.

A second vehicle, believed to be a white, Toyota Camry sedan, also struck the woman.
Troopers said the crash happened in front of the Golden Gate Center for Enrichment.
ACCORDING TO THE FHP, “Both vehicles fled the scene without stopping,”.

The woman died at the scene.
