Virgin Trains USA moves closer to opening Treasure Coast train station
Treasurecoast, Fl- Virgin Trains USA might be moving closer to opening up a station in Fort Pierce.
The high speed rail company is one of five organizations to express interest in the vacant H.D. King site in downtown Fort Pierce. The city asked for companies to detail their qualifications to develop the property.
Those details are set to be posted Friday to the city’s website. Then the city commission will pick a short list of preferred companies at their Monday meeting.
It’s unclear how this would impact Stuart’s chances of getting a train station. A representative for Virgin Trains USA said that this is all part of the evaluation process, which is continuing for both Fort Pierce and Stuart.
