VICE search warrants net met seizure, grow house, and more in Indian River
Indian River, Fl- During the month of April, Indian River County Sheriff’s VICE Detectives concluded a month long investigation into a Fellsmere grow operation with a search warrant at 15255 109th Street. During the search warrant, detectives located and seized 96 marijuana plants, more than 86 pounds of processed and packaged marijuana, resulting in a net seizure of more than two hundred total pounds. Detectives also recovered various processing equipment. That includes a hydraulic press, lights, grow equipment, a Ford F150 pickup truck used to transport the marijuana, and paraphernalia. “Dab” a concentrated oil version of marijuana was also being processed and packaged on the premises. A conservative estimated street value for the total drugs seized is in excess of $200,000.00.

On May 2nd, VICE Detectives stopped a vehicle they believed was trafficking in narcotics. Inside of the vehicle they recovered three ounces of methamphetamine, 5 grams of powder cocaine, 23 oxycodone pills, 30 gabapentin pills, and 6 lorazapam pills.
Drew Lindberg and Steven Massey were both arrested. They were charged with trafficking methamphetamine, trafficking oxycodone, and multiple counts of possession of a controlled substance. Lindberg was also charged with an outstanding warrant for driving on a suspended license and is being held without bond. Massey is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail on $551,500.00 bond. Information received during this investigation ultimately resulted in St. Lucie County recovering more than one pound of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, and more in Port St. Lucie netting three more arrests in their county.

On Friday afternoon, VICE Detectives executed a search warrant at 1850 38th Street. This was after several tips and complaints were received about drug sales. Detectives recovered two grams of crack cocaine, marijuana that had been divided and individually packaged for sale, and drug paraphernalia. Arrests warrants are pending on suspects in Fellsmere and on 38th Street.
On Thursday, May 3rd, a 29 year old female was found unresponsive in a home in the 2500 block of Compass Pointe Drive. She was later pronounced dead at Indian River Medical Center. Detectives noted obvious signs of drug abuse on scene and her body.
On Friday, May 4th, a 45 year old white male was found unresponsive at a home in the 100 block of 22nd Avenue. The male was found with tourniquets, syringes, and cotton ball filters around him, obvious signs of drug abuse. Deputy Farinacci deployed Evzio (Naloxone). The male became responsive while being transported to Indian River Medical Center by Indian River Fire Rescue. The male admitted to purchasing an using $30.00 worth of heroin.
Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar stated, “It is a safer day in Indian River County with these drugs off the streets. We saw one man almost die and a young woman lose her life just last week to these dangerous opioids. The search warrants listed here are a result of neighbors, tipsters, and concerned citizens who were willing to step forward and provide us with critical information we needed to make these cases. Those who continue to sell, use, and abuse these drugs need to know that incarceration and death are very real outcomes.”
