Vero Beach sued after Man claims video recordings violated his rights

Vero Beach, Fl- The City of Vero Beach is facing a lawsuit in federal court after a man claims police violated his rights while investigating allegations of prostitution at a local day spa.

The man, identified as “John Doe” in court records, is alleging police violated his constitutional rights by secretly recording his activities at the spa. According to the court filing, “Doe” was charged and plead not guilty to soliciting prostitution. The lawsuit claims “Doe” and others “were subjected to public humiliation by incessantly published photographs and references in the press and the media” and that “the defendants relished in the aftermath of this operation and enjoyed the publicity.”

The Town of Jupiter is also facing a lawsuit for secretly recording customers at Orchids of Asia Day Spa while investigating allegations of prostitution.

However in that case, the plaintiff’s were not charged with soliciting prostitution.

Vero Beach says the city has retained outside counsel to review and respond to the lawsuit, but declined to comment further. No court date has been set.
