VBPD arrest copper thief

Vero Beach, Fl- On January 14, 2019, at 7:00AM, the Vero Beach Police Department received a report of an overnight burglary at Bobby’s Plumbing, 2340 12th Avenue.

Investigating officers were advised that the suspect had attempted to break into the office. Upon reviewing the business’s surveillance footage it was determined that an unknown male suspect had also entered four plumbing trucks and removed spools of copper tubing.

Detectives canvassed area businesses and motels in an attempt to identify the suspect. The canvass resulted in the suspect being positively identified as Joseph Daniel Kight, age 32, of Vero Beach.

On January 20, 2019, Kight was arrested by the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office on an unrelated trespass charge.

On January 20, 2019, Vero Beach Detectives arrested Knight for the Bobby’s Plumbing burglaries. Kight was charged with burglary of a structure, felony second degree theft, and four counts of burglary of a conveyance. Kight is currently being held at the Indian River County Jail with bonds totaling $65,000.00
