Unoccupied running boat found in the ocean off Indian River County

An unoccupied 18-foot boat was found going around in circles today  7 miles off the coast. This has led to a search of the ocean and in the Indian River Lagoon.

The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission are involved in the search for possibly one person. The search is including the Intracoastal Waterway between the Sebastian and Fort Pierce.

The 18-foot Grady-White boat was found about 7 miles east of the Sebastian Inlet. The Coast Guard got a report in the late afternoon. When crews arrived, they found the boat’s engines were running.

Aircraft are involved in the search.
