Uber driver carjacked in Port St. Lucie; suspect arrested.
Port St. Lucie Police along with St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office arrested
Eric Alan Thompson today. He was charged with carjacking with a firearm and robbery with a firearm. He carjacked an Uber driver then robbed another victim at an ATM.
On February 27, 2017 at around 11:45 pm an Uber driver was picking up a fare at Cashmere Corner located at the 800 block of SW St. Lucie West Boulevard. As the driver pulled up to pick up the customer, Thompson, who was wearing a black bandana covering the lower portion of his face, approached the Uber driver and ordered him out of the car at gunpoint. The Uber driver exited the car then Thompson jumped in the car then fled the scene.

Thompson then headed west on NW St. Lucie West Boulevard when he saw another victim at a bank ATM in the 1700 block of NW St. Lucie West Boulevard. Thompson pulled up to the man at the ATM and robbed him at gunpoint. Thompson stole approximately $50.00 from the victim then fled again in the stolen car. The victim got into his car and began following Thompson who fled north on I-95. As the victim was following Thompson he called 9-1-1 and reported the robbery.
St. Lucie County Sheriff Deputies responded to the area of I-95 and Okeechobee Road where they spotted Thompson driving the stolen red Toyota. St. Lucie County Sheriff Deputies stopped Thompson in the parking lot of Jai-Alai located on Kings Highway. Thompson was taken into custody and the handgun, which turned out to be a bb gun, was located in the car with Thompson. Thompson was then turned over to Port St. Lucie Police Detectives.
Thompson was arrested and taken to the St. Lucie County Jail for booking.
