Two sixteen-year-old juvenile males arrested for stealing packages from doorsteps

Port St. Lucie, Fl (treasurecoast.com)- On December 3, 2019 at around 3:15 pm, Police responded to the 200-BLK of SW Aubudon Avenue regarding two male suspects committing burglaries, stealing multiple Amazon packages from several residences. Two sixteen-year-old juvenile males were arrested, charged with five counts of burglary and transported to the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ).

Police responded to the area along with K-9 and established a perimeter. A juvenile male was observed exiting a wooded lot from the area of the burglaries and quickly retreated westbound towards the wooded lot upon seeing police.  While K-9 conducted a track, several packages were discovered in the wooded lot and in the backyard of an unoccupied home.  A short time later, a male juvenile was observed walking westbound on SW Moselle Avenue towards SW Bayshore Boulevard.

The juvenile male was sweating profusely, had soiled clothing from contact with foliage, and appeared extremely nervous.  The juvenile male was subsequently detained and Detectives within the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) responded to the scene.  During the investigation, five victims were identified and reported missing packages from their doorsteps.  Most of the items were recovered in the wooded lot and the backyard of an unoccupied home.  The male juvenile was interviewed by Detectives and provided a full confession regarding his involvement with the burglaries.  A second juvenile suspect was identified and upon being interviewed by Detectives provided a full confession regarding his involvement.

Police ask citizens to prevent package theft by removing all delivered packages from doorsteps as soon as possible. If possible, ask someone (possibly a neighbor) to take possession of the package upon delivery notification. See Something Say something!
