Two Off-Duty Port St Lucie Police Officers Intervene in Apparent Suicide Attempt at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall

 

Port St. Lucie, Fl. (treasurecoast.com)- On November 15, 2020, Port St Lucie Police K-9 Officer, Corey Krecic, and Port St Lucie Police Detective, Michael Oliver, were off-duty, shopping at the Palm Beach Gardens Mall.  They were on the second floor near the food court when they noticed an elderly, white male, standing on the bench looking over the balcony to the first floor.  Both Officers took notice and watched the male tie one end of a rope to the railing.  He then placed what appeared to be a noose around his neck.  As the white male leaned over the railing, both Officers ran towards the subject, and pulled him safely off the bench, preventing serious injury to himself, and any other people below.  The Palm Beach Gardens Police Department was notified and took custody of the subject for a mental health evaluation.
