Two Martin County Deputies injured After violent Molly Encounter

TWO DEPUTIES INJURED, ONE SUSPECT ARRESTED AFTER VIOLENT ENCOUNTER PROMPTED BY REACTION TO DANGEROUS AND ADDICTIVE DRUG

Two Martin County Deputies were injured after a violent encounter with a subject who admittedly was high on some type of drug he believed to be “Molly”.

The incident happened this morning on the 700 block of MacArthur Boulevard around 9:30am. Vacationers renting a home on Hutchinson Island said they were startled by a man who tried crashing through the windows on their front porch. Deputies responded and worked to calm the combative suspect. Martin County Fire Rescue paramedics arrived to evaluate the suspect who was overheated and agitated. The suspect then became enraged again and started another violent encounter punching deputies and firefighters. Following a struggle, deputies and paramedics were able to restrain the man. One deputy suffered a shoulder injury and was transported to the hospital. A second deputy suffered a minor injury to the hand and was treated on scene.

The suspect was transported to the hospital for evaluation and faces multiple charges including battery on a law enforcement officer and rescue personnel, attempted burglary and criminal mischief. He will be booked into the jail once he is released from the hospital. ( It should be noted that it is common for Flakka to be marketed and sold as Molly. Flakka is the dangerous and addictive drug known to cause the excited delirium as seen today.)
